TRAINING PROGRAMS
Board & Train in Wilmington, NC - Three Weeks That Change the Next Ten Years
Three Weeks of Focused, Custom Training
Our three-week Board & Train is the most complete solution we offer for owners who want comprehensive training and fast, durable results. Your dog moves in with a professional trainer and trains every single day working on, engagement work, obedience, confidence building, leash manners, impulse control, off leash training, and environmental and socialization training.
Every dog is different, which is why the program is custom tailored to your training goals and to whatever specific behaviors your dog brings with them. Two dogs can start the same Monday and follow two completely different plans. What does not change is the standard they leave with.
What Your Dog Learns
- Reliable obedience on and off leash.
- Duration and distraction work, so commands hold when there is a skateboard, a squirrel or a stranger in the picture
- Loose-leash walking that survives when you want to take your dog into town
- Impulse control around their triggers, doors, thresholds, food.
- Crate training, self regulation and learning how to have an off switch
- Structured socialization with other dogs and with people
- Environmental exposure, traffic, loud noises, busy stores, restaurants, and dog friendly places.
Who This Program Is For
Adult dogs and older adolescents whose owners are past the point of managing behavior and want it resolved. Dogs who pull, ignore recall, jump on guests, bolt through doors, or simply never had a structure to grow into. It is also the right starting point for a well-behaved dog whose owner wants far more freedom, off-leash walks, restaurant patios, travel, than basic obedience allows.
A Day in the Program
There is no single timetable, because a nine-month-old Labrador and a four-year-old Malinois need different days. The shape, though, is consistent: training happens in short, frequent sessions across the whole day rather than in one long block, because that is how dogs actually retain information.
What We Need from You
The program works when the handover works. Before your dog goes home we need you to have watched the training footage, and we need you at the follow-on lessons, both of them, with everyone in the house who handles the dog. A trained dog going back to a household with no rules unlearns three weeks in about a month, and that is the one failure mode we cannot fix from our end.
What Happens When Your Dog Comes Home
This is where most board & train programs quietly fail, and it is the part we treat as non-negotiable. A minimum of two follow-on private lessons is included, and they are not optional extras. You will learn the same mechanics, timing and expectations your trainer used, so your dog goes on responding to you the way they responded to us. Your trainer stays reachable afterwards, and if something needs revisiting, we revisit it.

FAQ
01 How long is a board and train program?
Most programs run a minimum of three weeks. Length depends on your dog's needs and your training goals, and we confirm it at the evaluation rather than after you have paid.
02 Will my dog forget me while they are away?
No. Dogs have strong long-term memories, and while your dog will bond with their trainer through daily work, that bond never replaces their relationship with their family. Owners consistently tell us the reunion is one of the best parts of the process.
03 Where does my dog actually stay?
Your dog will stay in home with their trainer, allowing them to experience a structured home environment throughout their stay. We also have a separate building for our more extreme cases that require additional structure and focused training.
04 Is a board and train better than private lessons?
It depends on your time and your dog. Board & train produces faster, deeper results because the dog gets daily professional repetition. Private lessons put the work in your hands from day one and cost less. We will give you an honest recommendation at the evaluation.
05 What do I need to send with my dog?
Current vaccination records, the food your dog is used to, and any medication/supplements they take. We supply everything else as well as training equipment.
06 Can I get updates while my dog is in training?
Yes. You will see progress through the program, and we film work so you can watch what your dog is doing before they come home. Mid-program visits are handled case by case, for some dogs, particularly early on, a visit sets the work back, and we will tell you if that applies to yours.
07 What if three weeks is not enough for my dog?
Then we say so. Some dogs need four or five weeks, and that gets discussed with you rather than decided quietly. Three weeks is the minimum, not a promise that every dog finishes in exactly twenty-one days.
08 Is my dog crated the whole time?
No. Crate rest is part of the routine, as well as place training because settling is a skill worth teaching, but your dog lives in a home environment and spends the day training, exercising and being part of a household.
